Mindful eating promotes listening to your body from "summary" of The Mindful Diet by Ruth Wolever PhD,Beth Reardon MS,RD,LDN,Tania Hannan
When we talk about mindful eating, we are talking about much more than just what we put into our mouths. Mindful eating is a practice that encourages us to slow down, pay attention, and really listen to our bodies. It is about being present in the moment and fully engaging with the experience of eating. This means paying attention to how our bodies feel before, during, and after a meal. By tuning in to our bodies in this way, we can better understand our hunger and fullness cues. We can start to recognize when we are actually hungry versus when we are eating out of boredom or emotions. We can also begin to notice when we are satisfied and should stop eating. This kind of awareness is essential for making healthy choices and maintaining a balanced relationship with food. When we practice mindful eating, we become more attuned to the physical sensations of hunger and fullness. We are able to distinguish between true physical hunger and other types of cravings. We can also learn to appreciate the taste, texture, and aroma of our food in a deeper way. This heightened sense of awareness can lead to a more satisfying and enjoyable eating experience. Listening to our bodies is a key component of mindful eating. When we are truly present and engaged with our meals, we are better able to recognize when we are satisfied and should stop eating. This kind of intuitive eating can help us maintain a healthy weight and prevent overeating. By being mindful of our bodies' signals, we can develop a more balanced and sustainable approach to eating.Similar Posts
