Mindfulness practices can disrupt the cycle of anxiety from "summary" of Unwinding Anxiety by Judson Brewer

When we experience anxiety, our mind tends to get caught up in a cycle of worry and rumination. We find ourselves getting lost in thoughts about the future, replaying past events, and imagining worst-case scenarios. This constant mental chatter only serves to fuel our anxiety further, creating a feedback loop that keeps us trapped in a state of distress. Mindfulness practices offer a way out of this cycle by helping us cultivate a different relationship with our thoughts and emotions. Instead of getting swept up in the whirlwind of anxious thoughts, we can learn to observe them as they come and go, without getting entangled in them.
