Moreover, chronic stress can disrupt the balance of hormones in our bodies. For example, the stress hormone cortisol can inhibit the production of antibodies, which are proteins that help our immune system recognize and destroy harmful substances. This disruption in hormone balance can further weaken our immune response and make us more vulnerable to illness.
