Nonjudgmental awareness brings clarity to our thoughts from "summary" of Real Happiness by Sharon Salzberg

When we practice nonjudgmental awareness, we are cultivating a sense of openness and curiosity towards our thoughts. Rather than immediately labeling our thoughts as good or bad, right or wrong, we simply observe them with a sense of detachment. In doing so, we create space for clarity to arise. By approaching our thoughts with this sense of nonjudgmental awareness, we are able to see them more clearly for what they are. We are no longer clouded by our preconceived notions or biases. Instead, we are able to see our thoughts with fresh eyes, allowing us to gain deeper insights into our own minds. This clarity that comes from nonjudgmental awareness allows us to see patterns in our thinking that we may not have noticed before. We are able to recognize when certain thoughts are recurring, and how they may be influencing our emotions and behaviors. This insight is invaluable in helping us to understand ourselves better and make positive changes in our lives. In addition to gaining clarity about our thoughts, nonjudgmental awareness also helps us to cultivate a sense of compassion towards ourselves. When we approach our thoughts with acceptance and kindness, we are less likely to be harsh or critical towards ourselves. Instead, we can acknowledge our thoughts with a sense of understanding and empathy.
  1. By practicing nonjudgmental awareness, we are creating a space for clarity to naturally arise within our minds. We are able to see our thoughts more clearly, gain insights into our patterns of thinking, and cultivate compassion towards ourselves. This practice can be a powerful tool for personal growth and self-discovery.
