Weight is not the only indicator of health from "summary" of Food - WTF - Should I Eat? by Mark Hyman
It’s time we stopped equating being thin with being healthy. Weight is not the only indicator of health. Yes, being overweight or obese is a risk factor for many chronic diseases, but so is being underweight. Your weight is just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to your overall health. There are many other factors at play, such as genetics, lifestyle, diet, stress, sleep, and more. When it comes to health, we need to focus on more than just the number on the scale. We need to look at how our bodies are functioning on the inside. Are our organs healthy? Are our hormones in balance? Are we getting the nutrients we need to thrive? These are all important questions to consider when assessing our health. Many people who appear thin on the outside may actually be unhealthy on the inside. They may have poor nutrient absorption, hormonal imbalances, or other underlying issues that are not visible to the naked eye. Conversely, someone who is overweight may actually be quite healthy if they are eating a nutrient-dense diet, exercising regularly, managing stress, and getting enough sleep. It’s time to shift our focus from weight to wellness. Instead of obsessing over the number on the scale, let’s focus on nourishing our bodies with whole, real foods, moving our bodies in ways that feel good, managing our stress levels, and getting enough sleep. When we take care of our bodies from the inside out, our weight will naturally find its balance.- Health is not a one-size-fits-all approach. What works for one person may not work for another. We are all unique individuals with unique needs. Let’s focus on listening to our bodies, tuning into our own internal wisdom, and making choices that support our overall health and well-being. Weight is just one piece of the puzzle. Let’s look at the bigger picture.
