Mindful eating promotes better digestion from "summary" of Eat Move Sleep by Tom Rath

When we eat in a rush or while distracted, our bodies have a harder time digesting the food we consume. This is because our body's digestive system is not able to function properly when our minds are preoccupied with other tasks. When we are not fully present while eating, our bodies are not able to send the necessary signals to properly break down the food we have ingested.
