When we talk about simplicity, it does not mean a kind of poverty. It is not that you should get rid of all your belongings, shave your head, and go to live in a remote mountain like a hermit. That is not simplicity. But simplicity is just to function in the most direct and straightforward way. This is the idea of simplicity. It is a very important idea in Buddhism. But simplicity is not so simple. It is a difficult thing to attain. This is so because our mind is very complicated. We are enjoying our life, thinking that our way of life is so good. But when you realize that your way of life is not always so good, you feel how difficult it is to keep up with a good way of life. When you find some difficulty in your practice, that is the warning that you have some wrong idea, some wrong understanding, and that you have to change it.
