Posture influences energy flow from "summary" of Yoga Anatomy by Leslie Kaminoff,Amy Matthews
The way we hold ourselves can greatly impact the flow of energy throughout our bodies. When we maintain good posture, we allow for a more efficient circulation of energy, enabling it to move freely and smoothly. On the other hand, poor posture can create blockages in this energy flow, leading to stagnation and imbalance within the body. Imagine a river flowing through a forest. If the path of the river is clear and unobstructed, the water can flow easily and reach its destination without interruption. However, if there are fallen trees or rocks blocking the river, the water becomes stagnant and unable to flow smoothly. Similarly, when our posture is misaligned, it can create obstacles in the energy pathways of our bodies, hindering the natural flow of energy. By practicing yoga and paying attention to our posture, we can help to realign our bodies and release any blockages that may be impeding the flow of energy. Through mindful movement and breath awareness, we can create space within our bodies, allowing energy to circulate freely and restore balance. When we stand tall with our shoulders back and our chest open, we create a sense of expansiveness in the body that promotes the flow of energy. On the other hand, when we slouch or collapse our chest, we compress the space within our bodies, restricting the movement of energy. In yoga, each posture is designed to open up specific energy channels in the body, known as nadis. By practicing these postures with proper alignment and awareness, we can stimulate the flow of energy along these pathways, promoting overall health and vitality.- By paying attention to our posture and how it affects our energy flow, we can cultivate a deeper connection to our bodies and enhance our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Through the practice of yoga, we can learn to move with grace and ease, allowing energy to move through us unimpeded and nourish us from the inside out.
