Changing habits can be a challenging task that requires conscious effort and persistence. When we are trying to change a habit, our brain resists the change because it has already formed neural pathways that make it easier to stick to the old habit. These neural pathways are like well-worn paths in a field - it's much easier for our brain to travel down these familiar paths than to create new ones. In order to change a habit, we have to be aware of our old habits and actively work to replace them with new ones. This requires conscious effort because we have to constantly remind ourselves to choose the new behavior over the old one.
