Challenge negative selftalk from "summary" of Word Wise by Will Jelbert

When we talk to ourselves, we often do so in a way that we would never dream of talking to someone else. We are our own worst critics, constantly putting ourselves down and focusing on our flaws. This negative self-talk can be incredibly damaging to our self-esteem and overall well-being. The first step in challenging negative self-talk is to become aware of it. Pay attention to the thoughts that run through your mind on a daily basis. Are they positive and encouraging, or are they critical and self-defeating? By becoming aware of the negative self-talk, you can start to challenge it and replace it with more positive and empowering thoughts. One effective way to challenge negative self-talk is to ask yourself if what you are saying to yourself is really true. Often, our negative thoughts are based on assumptions or distorted perceptions of ourselves. By questioning the validity of these thoughts, you can start to see them for what they really are – just thoughts, not facts. Another strategy for challenging negative self-talk is to reframe your thoughts in a more positive light. Instead of telling yourself that you are not good enough or that you will never succeed, try to reframe these thoughts in a more positive and realistic way. For example, instead of saying "I will never succeed," you could say "I am capable of achieving my goals with hard work and determination." It's important to remember that challenging negative self-talk is an ongoing process. It takes time and practice to change the way you think about yourself. Be patient with yourself and give yourself grace as you work to replace negative self-talk with more positive and empowering thoughts. By challenging negative self-talk, you can start to build a more positive and loving relationship with yourself.
