Acceptance of what is brings inner peace from "summary" of The Power of Now Journal by Eckhart Tolle
When we resist what is, we create suffering for ourselves. When we constantly wish for things to be different, we are not fully present in the moment. Acceptance of the present moment is the key to inner peace and contentment. It is the act of acknowledging and embracing what is, without judgment or resistance. It does not mean that we passively accept destructive or harmful situations, but rather that we acknowledge the reality of the present moment without adding unnecessary suffering to it. When we accept what is, we let go of the need for things to be different. We stop fighting against reality and instead, we surrender to the flow of life. This surrender does not mean weakness or defeat, but rather a deep sense of trust in the unfolding of life. It is an acknowledgment that we are not in control of everything that happens, and that it is okay to surrender to the inherent uncertainty of life. Acceptance of what is brings a sense of peace and inner calm. It allows us to be fully present in the moment, without being consumed by regrets about the past or worries about the future. It frees us from the burden of expectations and allows us to simply be. When we accept what is, we are able to find joy and gratitude in the simplest of moments, rather than constantly chasing after something better. In accepting what is, we let go of the need to constantly change or fix ourselves or our circumstances. We embrace our imperfections and limitations, knowing that they are an integral part of our human experience. Acceptance is not resignation or complacency, but rather a deep sense of self-compassion and understanding. It is the recognition that we are already whole and complete, just as we are.- Acceptance of what is is a radical act of self-love. It is the choice to embrace ourselves and our lives fully, without conditions or expectations. It is the path to true freedom and liberation from the constant cycle of suffering and discontent. When we accept what is, we are able to find peace and contentment in the present moment, regardless of external circumstances.
