Challenge your own limiting beliefs from "summary" of Mindset by Carol Dweck
In the fixed mindset, people believe their basic qualities, like their intelligence or talent, are simply fixed traits. They spend their time documenting their intelligence or talent instead of developing them. They also believe that talent alone creates success—without effort. They’re wrong. In the growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment. Virtually all great people have had these qualities. People in a growth mindset don’t just seek challenge, they thrive on it. The fixed mindset does not allow people the luxury of becoming. They have to already be. The growth mindset is based on the belief that your basic qualities are things you can cultivate through your efforts. Although people may differ in every which way—in their initial talents and aptitudes, interests, or temperaments—everyone can change and grow through application and experience. The passion for stretching yourself and sticking to it, even (or especially) when it’s not going well, is the hallmark of the growth mindset. This is the mindset that allows people to thrive during some of the most challenging times in their lives. To change your mindset, you have to be willing to change your beliefs. The fixed mindset is a belief that you have a basic amount of intelligence or talent and that’s that. Changing your mindset means making a conscious decision to challenge your own limiting beliefs and to adopt a growth mindset instead. By challenging your own limiting beliefs, you can begin to see failures and setbacks as opportunities for growth and development. Embracing challenges and setbacks as opportunities for learning and improvement can lead to greater success in the long run. It’s not about changing who you are, it’s about changing the way you view yourself and your abilities. Through dedication and hard work, you can cultivate your basic qualities and achieve great things.Similar Posts
