It allows for a deeper connection with oneself from "summary" of MINDFULNESS FOR BEGINNERS. by JON. KABAT ZINN
In cultivating mindfulness, we open ourselves up to a deeper connection with our innermost selves. This connection is not just a superficial acknowledgment of our thoughts and feelings, but a profound understanding of who we are at our core. Through the practice of mindfulness, we are able to peel back the layers of conditioning and societal expectations to reveal our true essence. By turning our attention inward and observing our thoughts without judgment, we begin to unravel the complexities of our minds. We become aware of the patterns that govern our behavior and the beliefs that shape our worldview. This heightened self-awareness allows us to see ourselves more clearly and to make choices that are in alignment with our values and intentions. In this process of self-discovery, we may encounter aspects of ourselves that we have long ignored or suppressed. By approaching these parts of ourselves with compassion and curiosity, we can begin to heal the wounds that have kept us disconnected from our true selves. Through mindfulness, we learn to embrace all parts of ourselves – the light and the dark, the joy and the pain – with open arms. As we deepen our connection with ourselves through mindfulness, we also cultivate a sense of inner peace and contentment. We no longer rely on external circumstances or other people to define our worth or happiness. Instead, we find fulfillment in simply being present with ourselves, moment by moment, without attachment to outcomes or expectations.- The practice of mindfulness allows us to reclaim our power and autonomy, to live authentically and wholeheartedly. It is through this deep connection with ourselves that we are able to navigate the complexities of life with grace and resilience.
