Let go of the past to embrace the present from "summary" of Meditation by Osho

To understand the depths of existence, one must recognize the weight of memories that tether the spirit. Each recollection, whether joyous or painful, creates a barrier. They build an invisible wall, preventing the soul from experiencing the vibrancy of now. The mind, often preoccupied with echoes of yesterday, forgets the beauty of the present moment. Freedom lies in the ability to release these attachments. This release does not mean forgetting; rather, it involves transcending the emotional burdens that cling like shadows. By embracing the current moment, one opens the door to a fresh experience, uncolored by past judgments or fears. Each breath taken is a chance to reconnect with the essence of being, untouched by what has come before. Meditation serves as a bridge to this state of awareness. It invites silence, allowing thoughts to pass like clouds in the sky. With practice, the mind becomes less of a chaotic whirlwind and more of a serene lake, reflecting the beauty of the present. This stillness cultivates clarity, revealing the richness of life that often goes unnoticed. As one learns to observe thoughts without identification, the realization dawns that they are merely passing phenomena. They do not define the self. The real self is rooted in the moment, pulsating with life and potential. It is in this space that creativity flourishes, where love flows unencumbered, and where true joy resides. Embracing the now is a celebration of existence, an affirmation of life in its purest form. In this awakening, the past loses its grip, and the heart becomes light, ready to dance in the rhythm of the present.
