Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated from "summary" of How Not to Die by Michael Greger, M.D., FACLM,Gene Stone
As for hydration, water is the best choice. It's calorie-free, caffeine-free, and alcohol-free. Water should be our beverage of choice. When it comes to fluid intake, the best approach is to drink enough water to quench our thirst. Thirst is our body's way of telling us that we need to drink more water. We should pay attention to our body's signals and drink water when we feel thirsty. Drinking plenty of water helps maintain the balance of fluids in our body. Our bodies are made up of about 60% water, and every system in our body depends on water to function properly. Water helps regulate body temperature, transport nutrients and oxygen to cells, remove waste products, and lubricate joints. Without enough water, our bodies can't function properly. When we're dehydrated, our bodies have to work harder to maintain normal function. Dehydration can lead to fatigue, headaches, dry skin, constipation, and kidney stones. It can also affect our mood and cognitive function. To avoid dehydration, we need to drink enough water throughout the day. The amount of water we need varies depending on factors like age, gender, weight, and activity level.- Especially if they are physically active or live in hot climates. We can also get water from foods like fruits and vegetables, which have high water content. Staying hydrated is essential for our overall health and well-being. Drinking plenty of water is a simple yet effective way to help our bodies function optimally.
