Practice mindfulness from "summary" of Hello Cruel World by Kate Bornstein
Mindfulness is a practice. It's a way of being present in the moment, of being aware of what's going on both inside and outside of yourself. It's about paying attention, without judgment, to whatever is happening right now. Mindfulness is about being fully engaged with whatever you're doing, whether it's washing dishes or having a conversation or just breathing. It's not always easy to practice mindfulness. Our minds are often full of chatter, of worries and fears and hopes and regrets. It can be hard to quiet all that noise and just be here, now. But that's exactly what mindfulness asks of us. It asks us to let go of all that mental clutter, to let go of the past and the future, and just be here, in this moment. Mindfulness is a way of being kind to yourself. It's a way of giving yourself the gift of your own presence. It's a way of saying, "I care about you enough to really pay attention to you, to really be with you, right now. " And that's a powerful thing, because so often we're not present for ourselves. We're off in our heads, worrying about this or that, or judging ourselves for something we did or didn't do. Mindfulness is a way of breaking that cycle, of coming back to yourself, of being kind to yourself. Mindfulness is also a way of being kind to others. When we're truly present with someone, when we're really paying attention to them, it's a gift. It's a way of saying, "I see you. I hear you. I'm here for you. " And that's something we all need, something we all crave: to be seen and heard and valued. Mindfulness allows us to give that gift to others, to be truly present with them, to truly connect with them. So practice mindfulness. Practice being present in the moment, of being aware of what's going on both inside and outside of yourself. Practice paying attention, without judgment, to whatever is happening right now. Practice being kind to yourself, and to others. Practice being truly present, truly engaged, truly alive. Practice mindfulness.Similar Posts
