Buddhism helps us see reality as it is from "summary" of Buddhism Plain and Simple by Steve Hagen

Buddhism teaches us to look deeply into our own lives and minds. It encourages us to see past our assumptions and misconceptions, to uncover the truth of reality. This practice involves letting go of our preconceived ideas and beliefs, and instead approaching each moment with an open and curious mind. By doing so, we can begin to see things as they truly are, rather than as we wish them to be. One of the key teachings of Buddhism is impermanence. Everything in the world is constantly changing and evolving, from the smallest blade of grass to the largest mountain. When we accept this reality, we can let go of our attachments and aversions, and find peace in the present moment. By understanding impermanence, we can see the interconnectedness of all things and appreciate the beauty and fragility of life. Another important concept in Buddhism is emptiness. This does not mean that things do not exist, but rather that they exist in a state of constant flux and change. By recognizing the emptiness of all phenomena, we can free ourselves from the limitations of our own perceptions and judgments. We can see beyond the surface of things and recognize the true nature of reality. Through mindfulness and meditation, we can cultivate a deep awareness of our thoughts, feelings, and sensations. This practice allows us to observe our minds without judgment or attachment, and to see the true nature of our inner selves. By developing this awareness, we can begin to see the patterns and tendencies that shape our lives, and to cultivate a sense of inner peace and contentment.
  1. The goal of Buddhism is to free ourselves from suffering and delusion, and to awaken to the true nature of reality. By letting go of our attachments and aversions, by recognizing impermanence and emptiness, and by cultivating mindfulness and awareness, we can begin to see the world as it truly is. In doing so, we can find a sense of clarity, peace, and liberation that transcends our ordinary understanding of the world.
