It is easy to underestimate the importance of making small improvements on a daily basis. Too often, we convince ourselves that massive success requires massive action. We think that if we want to change our life, we need to set ambitious goals and make sweeping changes. However, this approach rarely works in the long run. Instead of trying to change everything at once, it is better to focus on making small, incremental improvements each day. By building habits that support your goals, you can make progress without relying on sheer willpower. This is the power of compound interest applied to self-improvement. When you improve by just 1 percent each day, your improvements will compound quickly. Small changes may not seem significant in the moment, but they can add up to remarkable results over time. The more you repeat a behavior, the more you reinforce the neural pathway associated with that behavior, making it easier to repeat in the future. In essence, habits are the entry point to changing your beliefs about yourself. Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become. By building positive habits, you are casting votes for your desired identity. The more votes you cast, the more likely you are to become that person. Your habits shape your identity, and your identity shapes your habits.
