Spending time outdoors has a direct impact on our brain function, particularly when it comes to learning and memory. By immersing ourselves in nature, we can actually improve our cognitive abilities and enhance our ability to retain information. One reason for this is that being outdoors reduces stress and anxiety, which are known to impair memory and concentration. When we are surrounded by nature, our bodies release lower levels of cortisol - the stress hormone - and instead produce higher levels of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that promotes feelings of well-being.
