Cultivate selfcompassion from "summary" of Unfu*k Yourself by Gary John Bishop
It's time to stop beating yourself up. Seriously, what good does it do? All that self-loathing, self-criticism, and negative self-talk - it's not helping anyone. Least of all, you. So, why not try a different approach? How about showing yourself some compassion for a change? Think about it. When was the last time you treated yourself with the same kindness and understanding that you would offer a friend in need? Probably not very often. But it's time to change that. It's time to cultivate self-compassion. What does that mean exactly? It means being gentle with yourself when you make mistakes. It means forgiving yourself for your shortcomings. It means acknowledging your own humanity and embracing your imperfections. It means loving yourself unconditionally, flaws and all. It's not about letting yourself off the hook or making excuses for your behavior. It's about recognizing that you are only human, just like everyone else. It's about understanding that you are doing the best you can with what you have. It's about treating yourself with the same care and respect that you would show to someone you care about. So, the next time you find yourself wallowing in self-pity or drowning in self-criticism, stop. Take a deep breath. And remember that you are worthy of compassion, just like anyone else. Treat yourself with the kindness and understanding that you deserve. And watch as your whole outlook begins to shift. Embrace self-compassion. Your mental health will thank you.Similar Posts
