To forgive is to let go of resentment that is fueled by our ego. When we hold on to anger and bitterness towards others, we are allowing our ego to take control of our emotions. The ego thrives on negativity and feeds off of our feelings of victimhood and self-righteousness. By holding onto resentment, we are essentially giving our ego permission to dictate how we feel and how we perceive others. When we choose to forgive, we are taking back control from our ego.
