Mindfulness is the practice of being present from "summary" of The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment, and non-judgmentally. It is about being fully present and engaged in whatever we are doing at the moment. Many people live as if the present moment were an obstacle that they need to overcome in order to get to the next moment. They cannot wait to finish with the present moment to move on to the next one. But the next moment never comes. Life is always now. Being present means being aware of what is happening now, without wishing it were different. It involves accepting the present moment as if you had chosen it. It is important to understand that mindfulness is not just about being present physically, but also being mentally present. It is about being aware of your thoughts and emotions without getting entangled in them. By being present, you can observe your thoughts and feelings without judgment. This allows you to distance yourself from your thoughts and not be controlled by them. Mindfulness helps you to break free from the cycle of negative thinking that often leads to stress and anxiety. When you are truly present, you are not preoccupied with past or future events. You are fully engaged in the here and now.
  1. You can tap into a sense of inner peace and calm that lies within you. This inner peace is always available to you, regardless of external circumstances. By staying present, you can learn to let go of the past and worry less about the future. This can help you to live a more fulfilling and meaningful life. Mindfulness is a powerful tool that can help you transform your life and cultivate a sense of inner peace and contentment.
