To sustain full engagement, we must learn to better manage our physical energy. Physical capacity is the fundamental source of all energy. It is the core energy that fuels our lives. Without the right quantity, quality, focus, and force of energy, we are compromised in any activity we undertake. The number of hours in a day is fixed, but the quantity and quality of energy available to us are not. This is the most underappreciated determinant of high performance. Optimal physical energy is the key to full engagement. The body is the foundation of the performance. To address our bodies more comprehensively, we need to consider the four separate but related dimensions of physical capacity: endurance, strength, flexibility, and resilience.
