In the tumult of everyday life, it's easy to let our minds wander to the past or the future. We dwell on what we should have said in a conversation, or worry about what tomorrow might bring. But when we focus on the present moment, we can find a sense of peace and contentment that eludes us when our thoughts are scattered. Staying present means paying attention to the here and now, to the sights, sounds, and sensations of the present moment. It means fully engaging with whatever we are doing, whether it's having a conversation with a friend, taking a walk in nature, or simply sitting quietly and observing our breath.
