Observing sensations with equanimity brings clarity from "summary" of The Experience of Insight by Joseph Goldstein

When we practice mindfulness meditation, we are training the mind to observe sensations with a sense of equanimity. This means we are cultivating a balanced and non-reactive attitude towards our experiences. By observing sensations without getting caught up in liking or disliking them, we create the conditions for insight to arise. Equanimity allows us to see things as they truly are, without the distortions of our preferences and biases.
