All advice is autobiographical from "summary" of Steal Like An Artist by Austin Kleon
When we give advice, we’re really just talking to ourselves in the past. All advice is autobiographical. It’s one of my theories that when people give you advice, they’re really just talking to themselves in the past. This is a great way to learn about yourself. Pay close attention to the advice that people give you, and notice how it reflects their own experiences. Most people are so caught up in their own problems that they don’t even realize they’re giving you advice based on their own experiences. When someone gives you advice, they’re really just talking to themselves. They’re giving you the advice that they wish they’d had when they were younger. It’s a way for them to make up for their own past mistakes. Advice is really just a form of nostalgia. Giving advice is a way to pass on the lessons we’ve learned. When we give advice, we’re really just trying to help our younger selves. When we give advice, we’re really just trying to help ourselves. We’re trying to make sense of our own experiences by sharing them with others. We’re trying to make our own lives better by helping others avoid the same mistakes we made. Advice is a way to connect with others. It’s a way to show that we’ve been through similar struggles and come out the other side. Advice is a form of storytelling. When we give advice, we’re telling a story about our own lives. We’re sharing the lessons we’ve learned in the hopes that they might help someone else. Advice is a way to make sense of our own experiences. It’s a way to give meaning to our struggles and triumphs. And when we give advice, we’re really just talking to ourselves in the past.Similar Posts
