Keep your habits simple and specific from "summary" of Mini Habits by Stephen Guise

When it comes to forming new habits, it's important to keep things simple. The more complex a habit is, the harder it will be to stick to in the long run. This is where the concept of simplicity comes into play. By breaking down your habits into smaller, more manageable tasks, you make it easier for yourself to follow through on them each day. Specificity is also key when it comes to forming new habits. Vague goals like "exercise more" or "eat healthier" can be difficult to measure and track progress on. Instead, try setting specific, concrete goals that you can easily track and measure. For example, instead of saying you'll exercise more, you could set a goal to do 10 push-ups every day. This way, you have a clear target to aim for and can easily see whether or not you're meeting it. By keeping your habits simple and specific, you make it easier for yourself to stay on track and build momentum over time. This approach also helps to eliminate decision fatigue, as you don't have to constantly think about what you need to do each day. Instead, you can simply focus on completing your small, specific habit each day and watch as your progress adds up over time. In the end, it's these small, consistent actions that lead to lasting change and habit formation.
