Prioritize selfcare from "summary" of Living with the Monks by Jesse Itzler

In today's fast-paced world, we often find ourselves caught up in a whirlwind of responsibilities and obligations. We juggle work, family, social life, and countless other commitments, leaving little time for ourselves. However, neglecting our own well-being can have serious consequences on our physical, mental, and emotional health. That's why it's crucial to prioritize self-care. Living with the monks taught me the importance of putting myself first. By taking the time to nourish my body, mind, and soul, I was able to recharge and rejuvenate, allowing me to show up as the best version of myself in all areas of my life. Whether it's through meditation, exercise, healthy eating, or simply taking a moment to breathe, self-care is essential for overall well-being. One of the key lessons I learned from the monks is that self-care is not selfish. In fact, by taking care of ourselves, we are better able to care for others. Just like the instructions on an airplane tell you to put on your own oxygen mask before assisting others, we must ensure our own well-being before we can effectively support those around us. It's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but it's important to remember that self-care is not a luxury – it's a necessity. By prioritizing self-care, we can improve our physical health, mental clarity, and emotional resilience. We become better equipped to handle stress, make sound decisions, and maintain healthy relationships. So, next time you feel overwhelmed or burnt out, remember to take a step back and prioritize self-care. Whether it's scheduling time for a workout, setting aside a few minutes for meditation, or simply indulging in activities that bring you joy, make yourself a priority. Your body, mind, and soul will thank you for it.
