Progress requires discomfort from "summary" of Living with a SEAL by Jesse Itzler

In order to make progress in life, you have to embrace discomfort. It's not about staying in your comfort zone and coasting through your days. It's about pushing yourself beyond what you think you're capable of, and that's where growth happens. When you're comfortable, you're not challenging yourself. You're not pushing yourself to become better. You're just staying the same. But when you push yourself out of your comfort zone, when you embrace discomfort, that's when you start to see real progress. It's easy to get complacent and settle for mediocrity. It's easy to stay in your comfort zone and avoid any situation that makes you uncomfortable. But if you want to achieve your full potential, if you want to reach your goals and dreams, you have to be willing to push yourself beyond your limits. Embracing discomfort is not easy. It's hard. It's painful. It's challenging. But it's necessary. It's necessary if you want to grow and evolve as a person. It's necessary if you want to achieve greatness. So the next time you feel yourself getting too comfortable, the next time you feel yourself settling for less than you deserve, remember that progress requires discomfort. Embrace the discomfort. Embrace the challenge. Embrace the pain. Because that's where progress happens.
