The Stoics urge us to let go of the past and the future, and instead focus on the present moment. This may seem like a simple concept, but it has profound implications for our well-being. By letting go of the past, we free ourselves from the burden of regret and resentment. We cannot change what has already happened, so dwelling on it only serves to cause us unnecessary suffering. Similarly, by letting go of the future, we free ourselves from the anxiety and worry that often accompany thoughts of what may or may not happen.
