Practice selfcompassion from "summary" of Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis
It's so easy to beat ourselves up, isn't it? We mess up, we fall short, we make mistakes, and suddenly we're our own worst critics. We say things to ourselves that we would never dream of saying to another person. We hold ourselves to impossibly high standards and then berate ourselves when we can't meet them. It's like we have this internal dialogue that is constantly telling us that we're not good enough, not smart enough, not thin enough, not successful enough. And it's exhausting. But what if we could change that dialogue? What if we could start treating ourselves with the same kindness and compassion that we show to others? What if we could give ourselves a break, cut ourselves some slack, and forgive ourselves for our imperfections? What if we could practice self-compassion? Self-compassion is about being gentle with ourselves when we're struggling. It's about treating ourselves with the same care and understanding that we would show to a friend in need. It's about recognizing that we're only human, that we're going to make mistakes, and that it's okay to not be perfect. It's about being kind to ourselves, even when we feel like we don't deserve it. Practicing self-compassion means acknowledging our flaws and shortcomings without judgment. It means accepting ourselves as we are, warts and all, and loving ourselves anyway. It means being patient with ourselves as we work through our struggles and being forgiving when we stumble along the way. When we practice self-compassion, we give ourselves the space to grow and learn without fear of failure. We allow ourselves to be vulnerable, to be imperfect, to be human. We free ourselves from the burden of unrealistic expectations and unattainable standards. We give ourselves the gift of grace, of understanding, of love. So let's start treating ourselves with the same kindness and compassion that we show to others. Let's practice self-compassion every day, in every situation, no matter what. Let's be our own best friends, our own biggest cheerleaders, our own greatest supporters. Because we deserve it. Because we are worthy. Because we are enough.Similar Posts
