Embracing vulnerability leads to courage and authenticity from "summary" of Daring Greatly : How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead by Brene Brown

Vulnerability is not weakness; it is our most accurate measure of courage. When we are willing to expose our true selves, with all our flaws and imperfections, we are embracing vulnerability. This act takes immense courage because it means risking rejection, ridicule, and judgment. However, it is through this vulnerability that we can truly connect with others on a deep and meaningful level. Courage comes from the Latin word "cor," meaning heart. When we show vulnerability, we are opening our hearts to the world, showing our true selves without any masks or pretense. This takes immense courage because it requires us to step into the arena of life, fully exposed and without armor. It is in this arena that we can truly live and love authentically, without fear of judgment or shame. Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we're supposed to be and embracing who we are. When we embrace vulnerability, we are able to show up as our true selves, without the need to hide or pretend. This authenticity is what allows us to connect with others in a genuine way, forming deep and meaningful relationships based on trust and mutual respect. When we have the courage to be vulnerable, we are able to live our lives with authenticity and integrity. We no longer feel the need to wear masks or hide our true selves from the world. Instead, we can show up as we are, flaws and all, and know that we are worthy of love and belonging. It is through this act of vulnerability that we can truly transform the way we live, love, parent, and lead.
