Lymph nodes filter harmful substances from the lymphatic fluid from "summary" of Anatomy & Physiology by Kevin T. Patton

Lymph nodes are small, bean-shaped structures that play a crucial role in the immune system. They act as filters, helping to remove harmful substances from the lymphatic fluid. Lymphatic fluid, which is similar to blood plasma, circulates throughout the body and collects waste products and pathogens from tissues.
