Embrace the present moment from "summary" of You Are Here by Thich Nhat Hanh

To fully embrace the present moment means to be fully present, fully alive, fully engaged in what is happening right now. It means letting go of regrets about the past and worries about the future, and instead focusing all of our attention on what is happening right here, right now. This may seem simple, but it is not always easy. Our minds have a tendency to wander, to get caught up in thoughts and worries that take us away from the present moment. But when we are able to bring our attention back to the present, we can experience a profound sense of peace and freedom. One way to embrace the present moment is to practice mindfulness, which involves paying attention to our thoughts, feelings, and sensations without judgment. When we are mindful, we are able to see things as they truly are, without getting caught up in our judgments and opinions. We can see the beauty in a simple flower, the joy in a child's laughter, the peace in a quiet moment. We can also see the suffering in ourselves and others, and respond with compassion and understanding. Another way to embrace the present moment is to cultivate gratitude for all that we have in our lives. When we focus on what we are grateful for, we are able to see the abundance that surrounds us, even in difficult times. We can be grateful for the beauty of nature, the love of our friends and family, the simple pleasures of everyday life. When we cultivate gratitude, we are able to let go of our worries and fears, and instead focus on the richness of the present moment.
  1. Embracing the present moment is about letting go of our constant striving and yearning, and instead being fully present to what is happening right now. It is about accepting ourselves and our lives as they are, without needing them to be any different. It is about finding peace and contentment in the midst of the chaos and uncertainty of life. When we are able to embrace the present moment in this way, we can experience a deep sense of joy and fulfillment that is not dependent on external circumstances. We can find a sense of home in the here and now, no matter where we are or what is happening around us.
