Learn to let go of perfectionism for increased efficiency from "summary" of Work Less, Do More by Jan Yager

Perfectionism can be a double-edged sword when it comes to efficiency. While it's important to strive for excellence in our work, demanding perfection every time can actually hinder our productivity. This is because perfectionism often leads to procrastination, as we become paralyzed by the fear of not meeting impossibly high standards. Learning to let go of perfectionism doesn't mean lowering our standards or settling for mediocre work. Instead, it involves finding a balance between striving for excellence and recognizing when good enough is truly good enough. By letting go of the need for perfection, we free ourselves to focus on completing tasks in a timely manner rather than getting bogged down in endless revisions and nitpicking. When we embrace imperfection, we become more efficient in our work. We are able to make decisions more quickly and move on to the next task without getting stuck in a cycle of self-doubt and second-guessing. This allows us to accomplish more in less time, ultimately increasing our overall productivity. It's important to remember that perfection is often subjective and can vary depending on the situation. What may seem perfect to one person may not meet the standards of another. By letting go of perfectionism, we can adapt to different circumstances and focus on what truly matters in each specific situation.
  1. Learning to let go of perfectionism is about prioritizing efficiency over an unattainable ideal of perfection. By embracing imperfection and focusing on completing tasks in a timely manner, we can work more efficiently and effectively, ultimately achieving greater success in our endeavors.
