When we practice mindfulness, we are not trying to force our thoughts to be a certain way. Instead, we are simply observing them as they arise, without becoming attached to them. This means that we are not getting caught up in the content of our thoughts or trying to push them away. By observing our thoughts without attachment, we are able to see them more clearly and objectively. In doing so, we create a sense of distance between ourselves and our thoughts.
