Acceptance of what is leads to inner peace from "summary" of The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
When you completely accept what is, something within you emerges that can be described as inner peace. It is not a passive state, but the result of recognizing and accepting the present moment as it is. This acceptance does not mean that you cannot take action to change the situation or improve your life. In fact, it is only through acceptance that real change can occur. When you stop resisting what is, you can then make a conscious choice to either accept it, change it, or remove yourself from the situation. Acceptance is the starting point of any transformation. It is the key to unlocking the power of now. When you resist the present moment, you are fighting against the entire universe, which is always in a state of flow and change. This resistance creates inner turmoil and suffering. It is only when you accept the present moment as if you had chosen it, that you can experience peace. This acceptance is not a passive surrender, but an active acknowledgment of what is. By accepting the present moment, you free yourself from the burden of the past and the worries of the future. You become fully present and engaged in the now, where true joy and peace reside. This is not to say that you should ignore your responsibilities or stop planning for the future. Rather, it is about living in a state of presence where you can respond to life's challenges with clarity and purpose. When you accept what is, you no longer resist reality. You are no longer at war with the present moment. This inner peace allows you to see things as they are, without judgment or attachment. You can then respond to life with wisdom and compassion, rather than reacting out of fear or resistance. This is the power of now, the power of acceptance. It is the key to unlocking a life of peace, joy, and fulfillment.Similar Posts
