Use everyday tasks as opportunities for mindfulness practice from "summary" of The Miracle of Mindfulness by Thich Nhat Hanh

When we talk about mindfulness practice, we often think of sitting meditation or other formal practices. However, mindfulness can be cultivated in every moment of our daily lives, even in the midst of ordinary tasks. It is not necessary to set aside special time for meditation. Instead, we can use the activities we already engage in as opportunities to practice mindfulness. For example, when washing the dishes, instead of rushing through the task in order to move on to the next thing, we can focus on the sensations of the water, the soap, and the dishes themselves. We can pay attention to our breathing and the movements of our body as we wash each dish. By bringing our full awareness to the present moment, we can transform a mundane chore into a mindful practice.
