Embrace mindfulness as a way of life, not just a temporary practice from "summary" of The Miracle of Mindfulness by Thich Nhat Hanh

Mindfulness is not meant to be a fleeting activity that we engage in occasionally; it is a way of living that should permeate every aspect of our existence. It is easy to practice mindfulness when we set aside specific times for it, such as during meditation or yoga sessions. However, true mindfulness means being present and aware in every moment, whether we are washing the dishes, walking to work, or having a conversation with a friend. By embracing mindfulness as a way of life, we learn to appreciate the beauty and richness of each moment, no matter how mundane it may seem. This requires a shift in mindset, a willingness to let go of our constant need to multitask and be distracted. Instead, we focus on the task at hand, giving it our full attention and energy. This not only leads to a sense of peace and contentment but also allows us to connect more deeply with ourselves and the world around us. Living mindfully also means being aware of our thoughts, feelings, and actions at all times. We learn to observe our inner workings without judgment or attachment, allowing them to come and go like clouds passing in the sky. This level of self-awareness can be transformative, helping us to break free from unhealthy patterns and reactions that no longer serve us.
  1. Mindfulness is about cultivating a deep sense of presence and awareness in everything we do. It is about bringing our full attention and intention to the present moment, rather than dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. When we make mindfulness a way of life, we open ourselves up to a world of possibilities and experiences that we may have otherwise missed. It is a practice that requires commitment and dedication, but the rewards are immeasurable.
