Practice gratitude for nourishing your body from "summary" of The Mindful Diet by Ruth Wolever PhD,Beth Reardon MS,RD,LDN,Tania Hannan
When we sit down to eat, it is often easy to take for granted the food in front of us. We may rush through our meals, barely registering what we are putting into our bodies. However, practicing gratitude for nourishing your body can completely transform your relationship with food. When you take the time to truly appreciate the food you are about to eat, you are more likely to savor each bite and be present in the moment. This mindfulness can help you become more in tune with your body's hunger and fullness cues, allowing you to eat in a way that honors your body's needs. Gratitude also helps shift your focus from what you can't have to what you can have. Instead of feeling deprived of certain foods, you can feel grateful for the abundance of nourishing options available to you. This positive mindset can make it easier to make healthier choices and enjoy the process of eating well. By expressing gratitude for the food on your plate, you are also acknowledging the effort that went into producing it. From the farmers who grew the ingredients to the chefs who prepared the meal, there are countless people involved in bringing food to your table. Taking a moment to recognize and appreciate this can deepen your connection to the food you eat.- Incorporating gratitude into your meals can be as simple as taking a few deep breaths before you begin eating and silently expressing thanks for the nourishment in front of you. You may also choose to keep a gratitude journal where you write down something you are grateful for about each meal. These small practices can have a big impact on your overall well-being and relationship with food.
