Let go of the need for perfection in your practice from "summary" of The Headspace Guide to Meditation and Mindfulness by Andy Puddicombe

When we first start to meditate, it’s easy to get caught up in wanting everything to be just right. We might set high expectations for ourselves, thinking that we need to achieve a certain level of perfection in our practice. We might become frustrated if we can’t seem to quiet our minds or if we can’t sit still for very long. But the truth is, meditation isn’t about achieving perfection. It’s about learning to be okay with whatever arises in our practice. When we let go of the need for perfection, we allow ourselves to be more present in the moment. We can start to appreciate each meditation session for what it is, rather than focusing on what it isn’t. By accepting that our minds will wander and that our bodies may fidget, we can cultivate a sense of compassion and understanding towards ourselves.
