Learning to let go of past regrets and future worries from "summary" of The Daily Stoic Boxed Set by Ryan Holiday,Stephen Hanselman

The Stoics believed that the key to a tranquil mind was to focus on the present moment, rather than dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. They understood that holding onto regrets from the past or anxieties about the future only serves to cloud the mind and prevent us from fully engaging with the present. By learning to let go of past regrets, we are able to free ourselves from the burden of guilt and shame that can weigh us down. Instead of constantly replaying past mistakes in our minds, we can accept them as part of our journey and use them as learning opportunities for growth and self-improvement. Similarly, by releasing ourselves from the grip of future worries, we are able to cultivate a sense of peace and contentment in the present moment. The Stoics recognized that much of what we worry about never actually comes to pass, and that by focusing on what is within our control - our thoughts, actions, and reactions - we can navigate life with greater clarity and purpose. In practicing the art of letting go, we are not denying the importance of our past experiences or future aspirations. Rather, we are acknowledging them for what they are - moments that have shaped us and goals that we are working towards. By releasing our attachment to them, we can approach each day with a sense of openness and acceptance, allowing ourselves to fully experience the richness of the present moment.
