Healing takes time and effort from "summary" of The Connected Child: Bring Hope and Healing to Your Adoptive Family by Wendy Sunshine,David Cross,Karyn Purvis

Healing takes time and effort. It is not something that happens overnight or without intentional work. Just as a physical wound requires time to mend and care to prevent infection, emotional wounds also need time to heal and effort to address underlying issues. When we adopt a child who has experienced trauma, it is important to understand that healing will not happen quickly or easily. It requires patience, commitment, and consistency. It is a process that unfolds over time, with ups and downs along the way. Healing from trauma is a complex journey that involves addressing deep-seated emotional wounds and relearning healthy ways of relating to others. It requires creating a safe and nurturing environment where the child can feel secure and supported. It also involves helping the child develop coping skills and strategies for managing difficult emotions. As parents, we must be willing to put in the time and effort needed to support our child through their healing process. This may involve seeking therapy, attending support groups, and educating ourselves on trauma-informed parenting practices. It also means being patient and understanding when setbacks occur, and celebrating small victories along the way. By investing in our child's healing journey, we are helping them build resilience and develop the tools they need to thrive. While it may be a challenging and at times frustrating process, the rewards of seeing our child grow and heal make it all worth it. Healing takes time and effort, but the results are well worth the investment.
