The Law of Solid Ground focuses on the foundation of trust in leadership from "summary" of The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership Workbook by John C. Maxwell

The Law of Solid Ground is all about trust in leadership. Trust is the foundation of leadership. It's the bedrock upon which everything else is built. Without trust, a leader has no solid ground to stand on. Trust is what allows people to follow a leader willingly and wholeheartedly. Trust is what enables a leader to influence others and make an impact. Trust is not something that can be demanded or forced. It must be earned. People will only trust a leader who has proven themselves to be trustworthy. Trust is built over time, through consistent actions and behaviors. A leader must demonstrate integrity, honesty, and reliability in order to earn the trust of those they lead. Once trust is established, a leader can leverage it to achieve great things. Trust allows a leader to delegate tasks and responsibilities, knowing that their team will follow through. Trust allows a leader to make tough decisions, knowing that their team will support them. Trust allows a leader to inspire and motivate others, knowing that their words will carry weight. Without trust, a leader is powerless. They may have authority, but they will not have influence. People may follow them out of obligation, but they will not follow them willingly. A leader without trust is like a ship without a rudder, tossed about by the waves of uncertainty and doubt. In order to build trust, a leader must be consistent in their actions and behaviors. They must do what they say they will do. They must be transparent and open with their team. They must admit when they make mistakes and take responsibility for them. Trust is fragile and must be nurtured and protected.
  1. The Law of Solid Ground teaches us that trust is the most valuable currency in leadership. Without trust, a leader cannot lead effectively. Without trust, a leader cannot achieve their full potential. Trust is what separates great leaders from mediocre ones. Trust is the solid ground upon which all successful leadership is built.
