Eliminate distractions to increase productivity from "summary" of The 12 Week Year Field Guide by Brian P. Moran,Michael Lennington

To be highly productive, you must eliminate distractions. Distractions are the enemy of productivity. They steal your focus and attention, making it difficult to accomplish your goals. By eliminating distractions, you can increase your productivity and achieve more in less time. Distractions come in many forms. They can be external, like noise or interruptions from others. They can also be internal, like negative thoughts or self-doubt. Whatever form they take, distractions prevent you from staying focused on your most important tasks. To eliminate distractions, you must first identify them. What is taking your focus away from your work? Is it your phone buzzing with notifications? Is it your coworker stopping by to chat? Once you know what is distracting you, you can take steps to remove or minimize those distractions. One effective strategy for eliminating distractions is to create a dedicated workspace. This space should be free from clutter and distractions. It should be a place where you can focus solely on your work. By creating a designated workspace, you can train your brain to associate that space with productivity. Another strategy is to establish boundaries with others. Let your coworkers know when you need uninterrupted time to work. Turn off notifications on your phone and computer. Set specific times for checking email or social media. By setting boundaries and sticking to them, you can reduce distractions and increase your productivity.
