Embracing impermanence helps us let go of attachments from "summary" of Real Happiness by Sharon Salzberg

In our lives, we often cling to things that we believe will bring us happiness and security. We hold tightly to our possessions, relationships, and experiences, fearing that if we let go, we will lose a part of ourselves. However, embracing impermanence can actually free us from these attachments and bring us a deeper sense of peace and contentment. When we acknowledge that everything in our lives is impermanent, we begin to see that clinging to these things only leads to suffering. We realize that nothing lasts forever - not our possessions, not our relationships, not even our own bodies. By accepting this truth, we can let go of our attachments and find a sense of liberation. Letting go of attachments does not mean that we stop caring about the people and things in our lives. It simply means that we release our expectations and desires, allowing things to flow naturally and change as they will. When we loosen our grip on what we think should be, we open ourselves up to new possibilities and experiences that we may have never imagined. Embracing impermanence also helps us cultivate a sense of gratitude for the present moment. When we let go of our attachments to the past and the future, we can fully appreciate the beauty and joy that exist in the here and now. We can savor each moment as it arises, knowing that it is fleeting and precious. By embracing impermanence, we learn to live with greater ease and openness. We become less reactive to the ups and downs of life, knowing that everything is constantly changing. We find a sense of freedom in releasing our attachments and embracing the flow of life as it unfolds before us.
