To truly move forward on the path of recovery, we must first come to terms with our past actions. This means taking a long, hard look at the things we have done and accepting them for what they are. We cannot change the past, but we can change how we react to it in the present moment. By acknowledging our mistakes and owning up to them, we are able to release the burden of guilt and shame that weighs us down. Forgiveness is not about condoning or excusing our actions, but rather about letting go of the anger and resentment that we hold towards ourselves. When we forgive ourselves, we open the door to healing and growth. We allow ourselves the opportunity to learn from our mistakes and make amends where necessary. This process of self-forgiveness is essential for our own well-being and spiritual progress.
