Alienated from society from "summary" of No Longer Human by 太宰治

I could never quite fit in with the world around me. No matter how hard I tried, I always felt like an outsider, like I didn't belong. It's not that people were unkind to me - in fact, quite the opposite. I had friends, I had family, I had people who cared about me. But no matter how close I got to them, I always felt like there was a barrier between us. Like they were on one side, and I was on the other. I tried to be like them, to act like them, to think like them. But no matter how much I tried to blend in, I always felt like I was just pretending. Like I was wearing a mask, a facade, to hide the fact that deep down, I was different. I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something fundamentally wrong with me, something that set me apart from everyone else. And so, I became isolated. I withdrew into myself, shutting out the world around me. I stopped trying to fit in, stopped trying to be someone I wasn't. Instead, I embraced my differences, my quirks, my flaws. I accepted the fact that I would never truly belong, that I would always be alienated from society. It was a lonely existence, to be sure. But in a way, it was also liberating. I no longer had to pretend, no longer had to wear a mask. I could be myself, truly and unapologetically. And in that solitude, in that acceptance of my own alienation, I found a kind of peace. A kind of freedom. A freedom to be who I was, no matter how different that may be from those around me.
