Writing and music as catharsis from "summary" of Just Kids by Patti Smith
Writing and music, for me, were not merely hobbies or professions. They served a deeper purpose - they were my solace, my refuge, my catharsis. Whenever I felt overwhelmed by the complexities of life, I would pick up a pen or grab my guitar, and pour my thoughts and emotions onto the page or into the melody. The act of writing allowed me to untangle the knots in my mind, to make sense of the chaos around me. It was a form of therapy, a way to process my experiences and articulate my innermost feelings. Through words, I could explore the depths of my soul, confront my fears and insecurities, and ultimately find healing and peace. Music, on the other hand, had a more immediate and visceral impact on me. The vibrations of the guitar strings reverberated through my body, soothing my nerves and lifting my spirits. Playing music was a physical release, a way to channel my pent-up energy and emotions into something beautiful and transcendent. Together, writing and music formed a harmonious symbiosis in my life. They complemented each other, each fulfilling a different aspect of my emotional and spiritual needs. While writing allowed me to delve deep into my thoughts and emotions, music provided an outlet for my raw, unfiltered feelings. Through the creative process, I was able to transform my pain and suffering into something meaningful and profound. Writing and music became my tools for self-expression, my vehicles for catharsis. They helped me navigate the tumultuous waters of life, providing me with a sense of purpose and direction. In the end, writing and music were not just artistic pursuits for me - they were my lifeline, my salvation. They enabled me to transcend the limitations of my circumstances, to rise above the challenges and setbacks that life threw my way. And for that, I will be forever grateful.Similar Posts
