Healing begins with selfacceptance from "summary" of It Starts with Us by Colleen Hoover

When we talk about healing, it's easy to think that it's about fixing external wounds or scars that we can physically see. But true healing often starts from within. It starts with accepting ourselves for who we truly are, flaws and all. Self-acceptance is not about settling or being complacent with our imperfections. It's about acknowledging them and understanding that they are a part of what makes us unique. When we deny or suppress parts of ourselves that we don't like, we are only hiding from the truth. Accepting ourselves means embracing every part of who we are - the good, the bad, and the ugly. It means being kind and compassionate to ourselves, even when we make mistakes or fall short of our own expectations. When we accept ourselves fully, we open the door to healing. We allow ourselves to let go of the self-criticism and judgment that holds us back. We give ourselves permission to grow and learn from our experiences, rather than being consumed by shame or guilt. Self-acceptance is a journey, not a destination. It takes time and practice to truly embrace all parts of ourselves. But the more we can accept and love ourselves, the more we can heal and become the best versions of ourselves. And the more we can show that same acceptance and love to others, creating a ripple effect of healing and growth.
